Babyment

In general, couple should wait for 6 to 8 weeks afterdelivery before resuming sex life. In most cases, women need to go to hospital or clinic for postnatal check-up, sex should be avoided before this examination. Diseases such as infection in the vagina or womb may develop if couple resumes sex life before 6 weeks. In some serious cases, it can even lead to death.

The uterus and cervix undergo significant changes during pregnancy and delivery. Time is needed for the cervix to close and postpartum to stop bleeding. For some women that undergo surgical cut to the vagina during delivery, laceration needs about 6 to 8 weeks to heal. During this healing phase, intercourse may introduce bacteria and cause an infection. If the laceration is not healed, sex life then should be delayed further until it is fully healed.

Men are advised to be gentle during the intercourse when the couple resumes sex life after delivery. It is also recommended for the couple to communicate before resuming sex life and prepare mentally and psychologically for any change to sex life due to possible change in the women's body such as vagina.
