Major Happenings in second stage of laboring

Second stage starts when the cervix is fully open and ends when the baby is delivered. It is going to take new mother 1 to 2 hours, and the duration will be shorter for others.

Major happenings:

1. The baby's head will gradually descend. For experienced mothers, the descent will be much faster. At the beginning, the baby's head is fully engaged in the pelvis. With each contraction of the uterine and your 'push', the head will descend more and more.

2. Contraction will become more frequent and more intense. Contraction can help you to 'push down' the baby. The doctor usually will pay attention to the heartbeat of the baby. If there is significant decrease, the delivery process should end quickly.

3. Push. Doctor will teach you to breathe and push. Breathing can help you to push harder and end the deliveryearlier.

4. Once the baby is delivered, amniotic fluid will also flush through.
