Safe to Eat Bean sprout

Is it safe to eat Bean sprout during pregnancy, breastfeeding or while trying to conceieve?Is it healthy for infant, toddler or childrent to eat?

It is healthy to eat bean sprout while couples are trying to conceive.


Bean sprout helps to increase male's fertility. Bean sprout contains vitamin E which can help to improve sperm quality and sperm motility. This can increase chance of conception.


Vitamin E in bean sprout is an antioxidant which can protect sperm from attack by free radicals.


For women, vitamin E in bean sprout can help reduce premenstrual disorder, menstrual complaints and menopausal disorders. This will also improve fertility.


During Pregnancy

First, you should avoid raw bean sprout because of potential health hazards.


This is because this vegetable usually carries a bacteria like e-coil and this bacteria can not be rinsed off. Usually, restaurants serve bean sprout in raw form, so it is better for pregnant women to avoid it.


During Confinement

Bean sprout is very nutritious as it is rich in vitamin B2, B12, E and beta-carotene.


However, this food is usually termed as "cold" vegetable which is not suitable for new mothers who needs to keep body warm after delivery.


During Breastfeeding
